Both Strange and Familiar

Hey, readers.  Happy After Halloween.  Back to counting down the days til the next one.  While you wait, pull up a seat and give a listen to Strange & the Familiars.  The band combines dark cabaret, rock opera and progressive rock to produce a dark and whimsical sound.

Over Halloween weekend, they released their second album, Strange World.  It's a multimedia project that involves short stories, indie comics, puppets, video, images and (of course) music.  On the music side, the album is soothing to the ears as it tells tales of words of warning and mourning for all that humanity might lose.  The accompanying comic will be released episodically starting in December.  I believe checking out Strange & the Familiars is a definite must.

Metaphysical Demigod Visions

Hey, readers.  Back again with some more music recommendations from Bandcamp.

  • Guillotine Dream: I talked about this band before in a previous post.  But I'm bringing them up again because they have a new album coming out called Demigods.  The album doesn't come out til October 15, but it's available now for digital pre-order.  The band also made 3 of the singles off the album available to listen to on their page.
  • Vision Video: Vision Video is a goth-pop band from Athens, Georgia.  They describe they're sound as dance music for the end-times.  Nice.
  • Tony Moon: I don't listen to that much rap/hip-hop music.  Mostly because I find a lot of it to be crap.  Don't @ me.  But once in a while, I will come across an artist with a sound that I can vibe with.  That's the case with Tony Moon.  Tony's sound is ...... trippy.  A good trippy.  He raps about subjects that range from the metaphysical to politics.  Definitely recommend checking him out.

To listen to any of the artists that I have listed, just click on their names and you'll be directed to their Bandcamp page.  And so ends this blog post.

To the Guillotine!

Hey, readers.  Popping in with another bandcamp review/recommendation.  This time for Guillotine Dream's latest album Damaged and Damned.  The whole album screams old school gothic rock and gave off Sisters of Mercy vibes.  Highly recommend.

In other news, I finally figured out the problem I was having with streaming on twitch.  Now I can start doing listening parties on the platform.  Did one over the weekend for The Long Losts'  latest album At This Late Hour.  Might be doing some watch parties there as well.  The link to my twitch channel can be found in the header and in my profile.

Time for Work

Hey, Readers.  Back with another band review.  This time, I was contacted by an industrial metal band from Germany called MIY.  Their sound blends industrial metal with darkwave, synth pop and future pop.  They messaged me about promoting and reviewing their newest album, Work.

I listened to it and, again, I was not disappointed.  This album fucking slaps.  In a pandemic-free world, there are definitely some tracks on here that I would request at a goth club.  Work releases on February 21.  Until then, you can hop on over to their bandcamp and listen to their previous album, The Seeking.

7

Hey, readers.  Today marks the 7th anniversary of my blog.  Haven't been in much of a celebratory mood though.  My creative output hasn't been looking that great either.  2020 was a total shit show and 2021 is proving to be an even bigger one.

Might talk about the craziness that happened earlier this month in another post.  Anyway, just wanted to take this time to let y'all know that I'm still around.  Til next time.
