A New Nightmare

Hey, readers.  A few weeks ago, I was contacted by The Nightmares.  A noir pop band located in Newport, Wales.  Back in September, they released a double A side single featuring the songs "The Falling Dream and Give Up The Hoax" and wanted me to give it a listen.  Disappointed I was not.

The songs have a late 80s/early90s feel to them.  Like something you'd hear in an independent film about a group of misfits going on a long road trip, where bonds are tested and love happens.  They are for sure worth checking out.

Cinema!

Hey, readers.  I'm here with some film news.  Meant to bring this up earlier, but I got caught up with some other stuff.  Anyway, the topic of this post is the Social Justice Now Film Festival.  This online event will showcase content that focuses on the social and economic issues facing black and brown communities in the United States.

The SJNFF will run from Oct. 21-25, 2020.  Content will range from narrative features, documentaries, short films and new media projects.  In order to watch, you'll have to register on the festival's website.  The price for signing up is free.

Skelly Haul

Hey, readers.  It's the mist of Halloween season.  Haven't made it to any of the big stores to check out what they have.  But I did manage to snag some spooky things from other places.  Let's start off with the dollar store finds.

Here's a cute little sugar skull that I got from Dollar General.  There's a switch at the bottom that you can flip to make it light up.  The color of the light varies.

From the Family Dollar store down the street, I picked up this large sugar skull that you can either hang on the wall or from the ceiling.

For drug store finds, I got this pack of Jack Skellington garland from the Rite Aid.  Also located down the street.  I didn't have to go far for most of these. XD Will probably use the garland to decorate one of my shelves.

Now for the biggie.  Besides outdoor decorations, you don't normally think of Home Depot when it comes to Halloween stuff.  But behold!  The Jack Skellington Waddler.  Push his hand and he waddles.

Adorable!  I'll probably post a short video on instagram that shows how he moves.  That concludes my skelly haul.

What's on the Tube? 6

Hey, readers.  Time for another installment of What's on the Tube?  The blog segment where I talk about and share the channels of lesser known goth youtubers.  This time though, out of the 3 channels that I'll be talking about, 2 of them aren't goth.  I'll start off with the goth channel first.

  • DryIsShy: On her channel, she talks about goth music and other goth-related topics.  She's just starting out with posting videos on youtube.  So, show her some love.

Now onto the 2 non-goth channels.  Normally, I don't do this.  But these channels put out some great content.  So, I wanted to give them a shout out.

  • Double Toasted: On DT, Korey and the gang discuss movies, pop culture, video games and news stories with a comedic spin.  If you want to see the unedited versions of their videos, check out their twitch channel.
  • Wine & Weed Podcast: Join Steelo, Chris and Jon as they discuss the news of the week while drinking wine and smoking weed.  New episodes come out every Wednesday.

And that concludes this installment of What's on the Tube?  If you enjoy reading my blog and want to show some love, consider donating to my Ko-fi page.  The link can be found in the header under "SUPPORT".  Til next time.

Black Brands and Sounds

Hey, readers.  Today, I wanted to share with you some videos that highlight black owned brands and black musicians.

Fellow black goth youtuber, Jess in King, has a playlist on their channel titled i buy black: black owned brands review.  In it, they showcase and review products from black owned businesses.  Jess also has a playlist dedicated to unsung black goth musicians.  Both playlists are very informative.

Over on Cadaver Kelly's channel, she has a video called 10 Goth Bands Featuring Black Musicians on Bandcamp.  The video highlights bands that feature or is entirely made up of black musicians.

In other news, after discovering some shady stuff with Teespring, I decided to close down my shop on that site and opened up a new one on Redbubble.  The link to my new shop can be found in the header.  If you enjoy reading my blog and want to show some love, consider donating to my Ko-fi page.  The link can be found in the header under "SUPPORT".  Til next time.

World Goth Day 2020

Hey, Readers.  HAPPY WORLD GOTH DAY!!!  Even though we're in quarantine, I hope you all are finding fun ways to celebrate the day.  If you're having trouble with coming up with something to do, check the World Goth Day website for a list of online events that are going on.

Need more Gothy goodness?  Last year, Cadaver Kelly created the Project Goth Playlist on her youtube channel.  The playlist is filled with all of the artists that were shared by the content creators that participated in the Project Goth Playlist Tag.  So far, it contains 80 videos.

There's also the birthday playlists that I keep on my youtube channel.  They contain a mix of goth rock, darkwave, synth-pop, electronica, neofolk and other sounds that you might find pleasing to your dark ears.  The link to my channel can be found in the blog's header.  Hope these suggestions help.

Monster Mash of Webcomics

Hey, readers.  Happy March.  Winter is coming to an end and Spring is almost here.  Let's celebrate this upcoming changing of the seasons with some webcomic talk.  Here's a list of monster webcomics that I've been reading for a while and wanted to give a shout out to.

  • Biff the Vampire: The tale of a vampire far from home, who has to deal with friends and being a modern monster in a mortal world.
  • Ozzie the Vampire: A comic about a vampire and her human best friend protecting the town of Gloomburg, New Jersey from a constant onslaught of demonic forces from the underworld.

This...is 2020

Hey, readers.  Happy New Year.  Hope you all had a good holiday season.  Mine was pretty good.  Got drunk, ate, talked smack, opened gifts and talked more smack.  Good times. XD

Before I get into some of the stuff that I got for Christmas, I wanted to show off 2 of the jewelry sets that I made for my cousin and niece.

Here's the set that I made for my cousin.  She's really into owls.  So coming up with stuff to make for her isn't hard.

And here's the set I made for my niece.

Now onto the Christmas bounty.  Of course it's not Christmas without my favorite Skeleton Man and his First Lady.

In the non-The Nightmare Before Christmas department, I got this cute sugar skull scarf and a Wednesday Addams funko pop.

More craft supplies!  Now I can make more of the things.

*drum roll*............................................DEMONIAS!!!  I've missed rocking clunky platforms.  Can't wait to wear these.

And so concludes another Christmas gift haul.  If you enjoy reading my blog and want to show some love, consider donating to my Ko-fi page.  The link can be found in the header under "SUPPORT".  Til next time.
