November Update 2019

Hey, readers.  A couple of weeks ago, I celebrated my birthday.  Didn't do anything big.  Just had family over.  Now, on to the gifts.

First up, are these lace finger-less gloves.  I have no idea what to wear these with.  But I'll think of something.

Next, are these skeleton earrings and matching necklace.  I wore them when I went to see Joker.  If you can't dress like a clown while watching this movie, sport skeletons instead. XD

In the make-up department, I got an eye shadow palette, some shimmering lip gloss and make-up brushes.  Time to experiment.

Craft-wise, I got some sewing essentials and more craft supplies.  Can't wait to use that ring bender.

And of course, as I've done for the last 2 years, I created a birthday playlist on youtube.

Speaking of music, my boys are back!  Dr. Death and Mr. Vile recently released their new album, The WOLF on bandcamp.  It's described as a journey into the struggle of the darkest and brightest corners of the human psyche.  I highly recommend giving the album a listen.

That concludes the November Update for this year.  If you enjoy reading my blog and want to show some love, consider donating to my Ko-fi page.  The link can be found in the header under "SUPPORT".  Til next time.

Peek-a-Boo Bouquet

Hey, readers.  Welcome back to Aji's Decorating Corner.  In my last blog post, I talked about some spooky fake flowers that I got from the Dollar Tree.  In this post, I'll be showing you what I did with them.

Since I didn't have access to a vase, I decided to put the flowers in this sugar skull mug.

As I stated in my previous post, I wasn't crazy about the spiders that were on the flowers.  Luckily, I was able to just pulled them off.  No cutting required.

Next, I got a black glitter branch, sandwiched it between the two sets and tied them together with a piece of creepy cloth.

Because I didn't have any styrofoam on hand, in order to keep the bouquet from moving around in the mug, I stuffed it with plastic shopping bags (Preferably in black/dark colors.)  If you decide to try this project yourself, the number of plastic bags you use will depend on the size of the mug.  For this, I used four.

I took one of the bags, balled it up and stuffed it at the bottom of the mug.  Then, I put the bouquet in.

After that, I took the remaining bags and stuffed them around the bouquet.

To finish it off, I cut a few strips of creepy cloth and wrapped them around.  This also helps to cover up the plastic bags.

Behold!  The finished product.

Peek-a-Boo

Hey, readers.  Wanted to share with you another one of my spooky finds.  Came across these flowers at Dollar Tree.

Not crazy about the spiders.  Those are definitely getting cut off.  After I do that, I need to find a nice vase to put them in.

This is.....

Hey, readers.  Halloween season is now upon us.  Here's an affordable way to goth up your shopping experience.  While out hunting for spooky items or running general errands, use Halloween themed reusable shopping bags.  These can be found in stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Home Goods.

Besides the cool designs, the best part about these bags is that they only cost 99 cents.  So, stock up!  Here's my small collection of skelly bags.  Regular readers of my blog will probably recognize the 2 larger bags from previous posts.  Originally, I was going to cut them up and frame them as art.  But I changed my mind and decided to use them for their intended purpose.

  • LeahMouse: She makes whatever videos she feels like making and puts them on her channel.  Leah also has a vlog channel.  The videos on this channel are more slice of life than the ones on her main channel.
  • Mads the Ghost: On her channel, Mads has videos that deal with goth, witchy things and the supernatural.
  • Cadaver Kelly: She is but a mere guide to the goth subculture.  Her words, not mine. XD  Kelly's videos focus on music that relates to the scene, DIY and other topics.

Greeting Cards with a Twist

Hey, readers.  A few days ago, I looked over in the "Who to follow" section on Twitter and came across a profile for an online shop that specializes in handmade Gothic and alternative greeting cards.  It's called Lilactwist Designs.  All of the cards are made to order and one off designs are added regularly.  Below are examples of some of the cards that they offer.

The shop also sells alternative wrapping paper and gift tags.  So, if you're looking for greeting cards that aren't your standard Hallmark fare, I suggest checking out Lilactwist Designs.  If you enjoy reading my blog and want to show some love, consider donating to my ko-fi page.  The link can be found in the header under "SUPPORT".  Til next time.

Project Goth Playlist Tag

Hey, readers.  I got tagged by The House of Wyvern to do the Project Goth Playlist Tag.  Here's a quick rundown of how the tag works.
  • Suggest a band.
  • How did you find the band?
  • Additional Info: band's history, albums, etc.
  • Suggested tracks.
The band that I picked for this tag is Midnight Calling.  I found out about them via a Vampire Freaks band invite.  The gothic rock/darkwave band was formed back in October 2016 by Yasmin and Scott.  Their sound combines 80's darkwave ambience, post-punk guitar riffs and driving bass lines.  Album is still in the works.

Two tracks that I suggest checking out are Howl to the Moon and Turn on the Light.  These tracks give a feel for Midnight Calling's sound.  If you enjoy reading my blog and want to show some love, consider donating to my ko-fi page.  The link can be found in the header under "SUPPORT".  Til next time.

Insane Footwear

Hey, readers.  Back with more Etsy talk.  The shop that I'll be talking about today is called Zombie Peepshow.  It's a one person operation run by Kayla Stojek.  I found out about it through The House of Wyvern, when they did a review of one of her shoe designs.

Man, these shoes are a...ma...zing!  Kayla is giving Irregular Choice a run for their money.  Her design influences come from goth, punk, horror and kawaii culture.  Check out some examples of her kick-ass work below.

Again, a...ma...zing!  If I saw this woman on the street, I'd probably throw my wallet at her.  If out there footwear is your thing, then check out Zombie Peepshow.  Til next time.

Note: I did not take any of the pictures shown in this blog post.  All images are from Zombie Peepshow.

What's on the Tube?

Hey, readers.  Welcome to What's on the Tube?  In this new blog segment, I'll be talking about and sharing the channels of lesser known goth youtubers.  Gonna kick off this segment by listing the channels of fellow black goths that I like to follow.

  • Angel Nightmare: On his channel, Angel does make-up tutorials in a satiric/comedic manner, composes/performs original music and more.
  • Jess in King: Their channel focuses on the goth subculture from the black, disabled, geek, femme and queer perspective.
  • Only On 2 Wheels: This channel is run by Anubis Bey (A.K.A The Gothic Tech Guy).  What drew me to his channel were his videos on black goths in NYC.  Another highlight of his channel is his Thor of Midgard web series. Quite entertaining.
  • Gothic SoulFlower: Describing herself as a gothic bohemian, Gothic SoulFlower shares videos about fashion, make-up, tribal belly dancing and other things.

On the Rox

Hey, readers.  I know it's been a while since I last shared anything about webcomics on here.  But fear not.  I'm here with my latest webcomic discovery.  Came across it the other day on The Blogging Goth's facebook page.

The webcomic is called Roxy.  It's about a woman who struggles to be an adult in the face of extreme social awkwardness.  I've read through the first 10 pages and so far, I'm digging it.  Definitely worth checking out.

2019: The Year of ???

Hey, readers.  Happy 2019.  As you can tell by the title, I have no idea what the year is going to hold for me.  So for now, I'm just going to continue to focus on my blog and work on my podcast.  To tide you over til my next post, have a meme.

If you have not watched Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix yet, you're missing out.  Go watch it.  Like right now.  Seriously, watch it.  I command you.
