Spooky Adornments

Hey, Readers.  Happy Spooky Month!  The summer weather is finally gone.  Hope everyone's enjoying the cooler temperatures.  Just wanted to pop in and spread the word about a friend's etsy shop.

It's called JBlueAdorns.  The owner specializes in handmade jewelry and trinkets made from air dry clay.  Since it's Spooky Season, there are 3 jewelry pieces that I wanted to highlight that are currently for sale.  First up, are these pair of bat earrings.  Look at those beady little red eyes.  Adorable.

Next, are these small black cat earrings.  More adorably menacing red eyes.  Don't worry, these little kitties don't bite or scratch.

And finally, for my candy corn lovers out there, the shop also has these cute candy corn earrings.  Yes, I like candy corn.  Wanna fight about it?

Spooky stuff not your thing?  Don't worry.  The shop also offers jewelry of the non-spooky variety.  That's all I have to share with you folks for today.  Til next time.

Insane Footwear

Hey, readers.  Back with more Etsy talk.  The shop that I'll be talking about today is called Zombie Peepshow.  It's a one person operation run by Kayla Stojek.  I found out about it through The House of Wyvern, when they did a review of one of her shoe designs.

Man, these shoes are a...ma...zing!  Kayla is giving Irregular Choice a run for their money.  Her design influences come from goth, punk, horror and kawaii culture.  Check out some examples of her kick-ass work below.

Again, a...ma...zing!  If I saw this woman on the street, I'd probably throw my wallet at her.  If out there footwear is your thing, then check out Zombie Peepshow.  Til next time.

Note: I did not take any of the pictures shown in this blog post.  All images are from Zombie Peepshow.

Christmas Gift Haul 2017

Hey, readers.  Happy 2018.  Figured I kick off the new year by showing pics of some of the gifts that I got for Christmas.  First up, is this top.  It's simple and versatile.

It also came with a cute choker.  Bonus.

Another article of clothing that I got was this sweater.

My favorite part of it were the skulls, keys, hearts and flowers on the sleeves.  Not crazy about the scorpions and snakes though.  But I can deal with it  The good outweighed the bad with this sweater.

In the accessories department, I got a couple pairs of hoop earrings.  You can never have too many hoop earrings.  Never!

What's better than necklaces and chokers?  Star Wars themed necklaces and chokers.

After I removed the choker and necklace from the packaging, I noticed that there was a Darth Vader necklace hidden behind it.

Moving on to DVDs, I got the complete series of Chobits and the animated Beetlejuice.

As a surprise, my mother presented me with art that was made out of one of my reusable sugar skull shopping bags.  A bag that she claimed she lost.  My mother is a sneaky lady.

Lastly, I got a copy of Midnight, Me and Bob Macabre.  So far, I'm halfway through the book.  Things are about to get very interesting.

That's it.  You made it til the end.  Thanks for reading.  Til next time.

Craft Along with GIY: Favorites

http://gothityourself.blogspot.com/p/craft-along-with-giy.html

Hey, readers.  Guess what time it is.  It's Adventure Time Craft Along with GIY Time!  This month's theme is Favorites.  For this one, I put away the jewelry supplies and decided to tackle a t-shirt DIY project that involved one of my favorite symbols.

Back when I was a kid, I would sometimes spend the weekends at my Grandmother's house.  When the time to go home came, either my parents picked me up or my uncle drove me.  This was one of those weekends where my uncle took me back.  On the drive home, I noticed that he was wearing a ring with a symbol on it that I had never seen before.  I asked him what it was, and he told me it was called an ankh.

He went on to say that it meant eternal life.  I've been fascinated with the symbol since.  So, for this month's Craft Along, I decided to paint an ankh on one of my blank t-shirts.  First, I cut an ankh stencil out of an empty cereal box.

Then, I picked up some black and white fabric paint.

Since the t-shirt that I was going to be painting on was black, I put the black paint aside and just used the white one.  At least what I thought was white.  When I read the label on the bottle, I thought it was white paint that contained glitter.  Nope.  After I squeezed the paint around the stencil and started to fill the ankh shape in with it, I realized that it was glitter paint that was suppose to dry clear.

I thought it wasn't a big deal and could just get some regular white fabric paint the next time I went out.  But when I looked at the shirt the next day, I changed my tune.  Instead of drying clear, the paint had dried a silver color and the glitter added a pop of sparkle.

Liking what I was seeing, I filled in the ankh with another coat and let it dry.

Happy with my paint job, I broke out the scissors and attacked the hemlines.

I present to you, the finished product.  Sorry for the sideways photos.  The iphone usually rotates the image to the upright position after it's taken.

This was my first attempt with using fabric paint, and it was a success.  I started out shaky, but ended up getting the ankh design that I wanted.  Congrats to me.  Til next time.

Let's Talk Handbags

Hey, readers.  A few posts ago, I mentioned a band called As Angels Bleed in a list of music recommendations.  Today, I want to focus on the band's lead vocalist, Avelina De Moray.  Not only is she a talented singer, she's also an awesome handbag designer.

Avelina collaborates with well-known youtubers and creates wonderful pieces of handbag art.  So far, only 3 different handbag designs are available.  But there will be more in the future.  I highly recommend checking out her shop.  Below is a video showing the most recent handbag collab that she did with It's Black Friday.  Til next time.

Christmas Gift Haul 2016

Hey, readers.  2017 is here, and I kicked it off by going to see Rogue One.  It was good stuff.  But let's get to what you all came here for.  The gift haul.

First up, are these glass drawer knobs.  Pretty, pretty.  Once I swap out the old knobs on my chest of drawers for these, I'll be sure to post a picture of it on my instagram page.

Next, are these necklace pendants.  I already made a necklace out of the silver one.  Still gotta plan out what to do with the others.

Speaking of jewelry, I also got two gift cards for A.C. Moore.  For those who don't know, A.C. Moore is an arts and crafts supply store.  A couple of days after Christmas, I went there and stocked up on some needed jewelry basics.

Time to talk clothes.  I'm not going to get into detail about all the clothes that I got because most of it is boring clothing essentials.  So, I'm just going to talk about my 2 favorite clothing items.  A plaid shirt in red, and a black maxi dress.

I ended up liking the shirt more than I thought I would.  I can wear it on its own or layer it with other tops.  Love the maxi dress.  I've been pining for a basic black maxi dress for a loooong time.  I can dress it up or down.

In my Christmas stocking, I got the usual.  Candy!  As of now, only the sweet tarts remain.

Along with the candy, I got these cute necklaces too.

And so ends the Christmas gift haul.  My blog's 3rd anniversary is coming up.  So, expect another post really soon.  Til next time.

Pastel Punk?

Well, I did it again.  I entered an avatar into another avatar contest.  This time, the theme was pastel punk.  At the time, I didn't know if it was an actual trend or if it was a theme made up by the contest creator.

Without even bothering to do a quick google search, I came up with a look that I thought fell under the theme of pastel punk and entered it.  Here's my handiwork.

She looks like she could be a member of Jem and the Holograms.  The cartoon, not that heinous movie.  Anyway, as usual, I didn't place.  But as I was looking at the winners and other contestants, I noticed that most of them looked more pastel goth than pastel punk.  When I finally did do a google search on it, I came across the same thing.

The majority of the images on the page looked more pastel goth than pastel punk.  I don't get it.  Seems like a lot of subcultures are getting pastel counterparts these days.  What's next?  Pastel hip-hop?

Pastel Goth

A couple of days ago, on the avatar site that I like to hangout on, I entered my avi into a pastel goth themed contest.  This trend isn't really my thing.  I like pastel colors.  But I prefer them in small doses.  I just entered the contest out of boredom.

Anyway, this is the look that I submitted.

I don't really know much about pastel goth.  But I think I did a nice job with this look.  Sadly, I didn't place.  Ever since they revamped the avatar contest feature earlier this year, I've only placed twice.  Eh, oh well.

My next  blog post will probably be a review of My Own Sorrow's new album.  If not, I'll just post something totally random instead.  I'm such a spazz.  Til next time.

Gothabilly Avatar

A few days ago, the avatar site that I hang out on released a victory rolls hairstyle and a pin-up dress.  They had already released a pair of creepers a few months back.  So, I decided to go ahead and attempt to create a gothabilly look for my avatar.  I came up with a look in 2 different color schemes.  One in gray and one in blue.

I wanted to add a spiked collar to both looks.  However, the spiked collars that are currently available on the site are way too bulky and make it look like your avatar doesn't have a neck.  So, I settled for a simple choker.  I think I did a pretty decent job.  What do you think?

Awesome Discovery

About a month ago, the mailman accidentally put a catalog into my mailbox that was meant for somebody else.  It was from this online store called The Pyramid Collection.  After looking through the catalog, I saw that the shop sold items that catered to a lot of different subcultures.  Like Gothic, Steampunk and other new age subcultures.  If these type of things Interests you, click the link below and give the site a look-see.
