Hey, readers. Over the weekend, I got some jewelry making done. I made a necklace featuring the skeleton cameo pendant that I got for Christmas, and a pair of earrings to go with it. The necklace chain that came with one of the basics packs that I got was too short to fit around my neck. So, to solve this problem, I lengthened it with some eye pins and beads.
Here's what I originally came up with.
The earrings came out great. However, when I tried the necklace on, I realized that you couldn't really see the bead work. It mostly hid behind my neck. Since I didn't have any extension chains on hand, I ended up replacing the beads with some split rings. Here's what it looks like now.
Much better. But what about the bead work? I didn't want it to go to waste. So, I broke the beads up and made 2 more pairs of earrings.
Wundervoll! Til next time.
Hey readers. Today, marks the third anniversary of Cafe LaStrange. To celebrate this momentous occasion, I'll be throwing a party on plug.dj. A link to my room will be posted on my facebook and twitter page later this evening. So, be on the lookout for that.
As always, thanks for checking out my blog. You all rock. Til next time.
Hey, readers. Due to some things involving our shady landlord, Aji's Decorating Corner is being put on hold. I'm not going to be posting any more updates about my bedroom til this situation gets sorted. At least after this post. In my last one, I talked about going out with my family to see Rogue One.
Since we had some time to kill before the movie started, we stopped by The Christmas Tree Shops. Despite the name, the shop sells more than just Christmas items. While we were there, I snagged myself a lamp. Even though I already have a set of net lights hanging behind my bed, those aren't something that I want to plug in on a regular basis. Cause once the bulbs go out, I'll have to take the whole thing down and put it back up again.
What drew me to this lamp was the pattern on the shade. I liked how it contrasted with the pattern on my bedding, but also shared the same colors.
That's all for today. Stay tuned for my next post. It's going to be a special one. Til next time.
Hey, readers. 2017 is here, and I kicked it off by going to see Rogue One. It was good stuff. But let's get to what you all came here for. The gift haul.
First up, are these glass drawer knobs. Pretty, pretty. Once I swap out the old knobs on my chest of drawers for these, I'll be sure to post a picture of it on my instagram page.
Next, are these necklace pendants. I already made a necklace out of the silver one. Still gotta plan out what to do with the others.
Speaking of jewelry, I also got two gift cards for A.C. Moore. For those who don't know, A.C. Moore is an arts and crafts supply store. A couple of days after Christmas, I went there and stocked up on some needed jewelry basics.
Time to talk clothes. I'm not going to get into detail about all the clothes that I got because most of it is boring clothing essentials. So, I'm just going to talk about my 2 favorite clothing items. A plaid shirt in red, and a black maxi dress.
I ended up liking the shirt more than I thought I would. I can wear it on its own or layer it with other tops. Love the maxi dress. I've been pining for a basic black maxi dress for a loooong time. I can dress it up or down.
In my Christmas stocking, I got the usual. Candy! As of now, only the sweet tarts remain.
Along with the candy, I got these cute necklaces too.
And so ends the Christmas gift haul. My blog's 3rd anniversary is coming up. So, expect another post really soon. Til next time.
Hey, readers. Happy New Year's Eve. With you-know-who winning the election, and the grim reaper cleaning house in Hollywood, we can agree that 2016 wasn't that great of a year. But now, on to something completely different. Let's talk Christmas!
Mine was good. My mother put together a kick-ass spread, and I got some cool gifts. Expect a haul post in the near future. Hope everybody has a fun New Year's Eve/Day. Til next time.
Hey, readers. Christmas is almost here. Spent the last couple of days doing some last minute gift shopping, wrapping said gifts, and making jewelry. While I was out with my mother and brother, we stopped in a craft store so I could get myself a set of craft pliers.
During my tool search, my mother came across an owl pendant. Since one of my cousins is into owls, she suggested that I make a necklace for her. I already had a chain and some clasps back at home. So, making one wouldn't be a problem. Especially since one of the pliers from the new set that I bought were a flat nose pair.
No more damaging my nails when working with split rings. Since no one in my family really checks out my blog, I feel it's safe to post a pic of the finished product.
Along with the necklace, I also made a bracelet to go with it.
That's all for now. Hope you all have a happy holiday. Til next time.
Hey, readers. Today's post is an Aji's Decorating Corner update. Last night, I finally got around to putting up the creepy cloth behind my bed. But that's not all I did. Since it's the holiday season, my mother came up with the awesome idea to hang up a set a net lights behind the cloth.
Not only would this make my gothy bedroom look a little festive, but the lights would also serve as nighttime lighting. So, no need for a lamp. Once the net lights and creepy cloth was up, my mother framed it out with some silver tinsel garland. This is what it looks like with the net lights off.
And this is what it looks like with them on.
As you can see from the top photo, I still haven't spray painted my headboard black yet. But I'll get around to doing it eventually. Anyway, after we took care of the area behind my bed, we spiced up my entertainment area with some more silver tinsel garland and a set of star lights. Check it out.
Lights off.
Lights on.
I love how both areas turned out. Since the tinsel garland goes with my color scheme, and the lights add a nice touch of ambiance, I plan on keeping them up after the holidays are over. My bedroom will be both dark and quirky. XD Next on the bedroom design agenda is finding somewhere to hang this piece of cuteness.
One of my mother's co-workers is retiring, and moving out of state. So, she gave her some of her old holiday decorations. This sign was one of them. When my mother showed it to me, I immediately called dibs on it. That's it for another rousing episode of Aji's Decorating Corner.
Til next time.
